Grosse Ile's Eric Schmitt grapples with a wrestler from Southgate Anderson.
The lady is a champ.
One of Grosse Ile's new wrestlers, senior Kelsey Hanson, was one of four champions for the Red Devils on Saturday at Lincoln Park's team tournament.
Hanson -- a national-level girls' wrestler who moved from Colorado -- was 5-0 with three pins at 103 pounds. But the Devils, who have been hit hard by the flu, were just 1-4 as a team.
Going 5-0 with four pins each for the Devils were senior Larry Mazzola (152) and Chris Toulouse (171). Freshman Robert Theide (275) was 3-0 with three pins.

Kelsey Hanson, a national-level girls wrestler from Colorado, is off to a 3-0 start this season in her 103-pound weight class.
Grosse Ile beat Dearborn Heights Crestwood 54-28. The Devils' losses were to Lincoln Park (47-33), Allen Park (45-34), Anderson (54-21) and Edsel Ford (42-41), with Edsel winning on a pin in the last match to pull out the victory.
The Devils opened their season Dec. 4 with a pair of losses in a quad at Trenton. The first dual was a 40-36 loss to Dearborn Divine Child in which the Falcons won a major decision in the last match to break a tie; the second was a 48-23 loss to Ypsilanti Lincoln.
Mazzola (152), Toulouse (171) and Rob Andrews (135) were all 2-0, and Hanson was 1-1. She had a 14-second pin at 103, then was bumped up to 112, where she lost 10-7 as she gave up a two-point takedown in the last three seconds.
Grosse Ile is off until Thursday, when it travels to Riverview for its first Huron League dual of the season.
