You can quickly and easily establish relationships between members of your family and certain hereditary diseases, including high blood pressure and breast cancer. Fill in names and health information (all confidential), then print out a version of your family health tree. There also is information about common hereditary diseases, including how to prevent and treat them. TJ
You can waste plenty of time reading blogs, but here's a great one. These are little stories overheard in offices from around the world. Plenty of laughs. You also can submit your own. TJ
Avid book readers will love this site. The total titles reviewed now tops 1,500 and includes an easy-to-navigate search engine. You can search by title, author and even genre or nationality. The site also includes reviews published by other sites and publications. TJ
Starting in 1960, you can go year by year and look at what happened on almost a daily basis. An easy-to-use calendar for each year pops up and goes right through the year. On Jan. 27, 1960, a heat wave killed 13 in Sydney. The "quote of the year" in 1960 came from Nikita Khrushchev: "Politicians are the same all over. They promise to build a bridge even when there is no river."
Ever since I became interested in news, I've been turning to news.google.com to find articles from news sources all over the world. News is categorized by type, including U.S., World, entertainment and even health. You can search for a particular news topic and even customize the page to cater to news you want to read about. MB
When trying to figure out which movie to see, moviefone.com (or movies.aol.com) can be much quicker and less nerve wracking than dialing the actual "Moviefone." Without having to deal with frustrating menus and annoying commercials before hearing the movie times, with a click of a mouse you can access all theaters in your area. MB
Want to impress your friends with obscure facts from movies they've never heard of? Now you can with the help of the Internet Movie Database, or imdb.com. This site has cataloged virtually every movie ever made, who was in it, reviews and histories of almost any actor. MB
