Golfers spotless in league play

The Grosse Ile girls' golf team grabbed two victories last Friday in a tri-match against Carleton Airport and Huron and upped its record to 5-0 in the Huron League.

Grosse Ile finished with a low score of 182, while Huron was next with a 254 and Airport shot 266.
Grosse Ile's Sarah Varitek led the way at Carleton Glen with a low round of 44.
Whitney Walker and Jaclyn Davis each shot 45 and Ally Hunter had a 48.
Huron (2-4) was led by Amanda Yax with a 60 and Deana Gilnski with a 61.
Grosse Ile placed 13th out of 16 teams at the Birmingham Seaholm Invitational at St. John's Golf Club on Saturday with a team score of 394.
Varitek shot the lowest round for Grosse Ile with a 92. Walker was one stroke back with a 93 and Hunter shot 100. Karleigh McFarland rounded out the group with a 109.
"The greens were fast and they had a hard time adjusting," Grosse Ile Coach Sara Slater said of the St. John's course.
"We're improving though and were just getting ready for the league and regional (meets)."
