Art show has island ambience

Grosse Ile's Dr. Marilyn Belamaric and Dr. John Belamaric will be the honorary chairpersons for the annual Art Ambience, a juried spring art exhibition and non-juried miniature show.

The show begins with a reception from 6:30 to 9 p.m. next Friday. Show hours are from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. April 29 and from noon to 4 p.m. on April 30.
The show takes place at the Taylor Heritage Park activity building.
Awards include a $500 cash prize for first place. There also will be entertainment, demonstrations, raffles and more.
Marilyn is an ophthalmologist and owner of Southland Eye Clinic. John is a pathologist at Oakwood SouthShore Medical Center. Both have been longtime supporters of the arts Downriver.
The jury will be Margorie Chellstorp, who has a Master of Fine Arts degree and was an assistant professor of art at Madonna University for 18 years. Her work has been displayed in juried shows and museums around the country and is in many private and corporate collections.
She also teaches studio classes, conducts workshops, gives lectures, critiques and is a juror for numerous art shows. She was named Farmington/Farmington Hills year 2000 Artist in Residence.
