A 1997 Jeep Cherokee was vandalized between the evening of March 20 and 5:30 p.m. Saturday. The vehicle was found stuck in the mud and unattended near the 22000 block of West River Road.
The windshield, a rear taillight and both side-door windows were shattered, a front headlight was broken loose, and four tires were slashed.
A resident of the 24000 block of Parke Lane told police that the driver of a snowplow truck intentionally damaged her front lawn between 8:30 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. Saturday.
She said she believes it was intentional because a similar incident occurred earlier in the winter.
An officer told her he believes the driver misjudged the curve of the road, saying that it would not be treated as a criminal matter.
The woman then told the officer that she'd have her son find the driver, which the officer believed was an implied threat against a township employee.
The officer explained to her that Wayne County is actually responsible for plowing that road and reminded her of the ramifications of violence.
She still insisted that it was the fault of the township employee.
The officer gave her a report number and told her to contact the county.
A mailbox in the 19000 block of Meridian was knocked down overnight Saturday. The homeowner told police he believes it was hit by a plow truck.
A Grosse Ile woman was arrested for drunken driving at about 9:40 p.m. last Friday near Meridian and Lake.
Before stopping her near Meridian Elementary School, an officer had seen her driving erratically, both on the wrong side and in the middle of the road.
She told the officer she was driving in the middle of the road in order to follow the snow tracks.
She also told him that she had two glasses of wine and had just left the Grosse Ile Yacht Club.
Her blood-alcohol level was 0.134 percent. Under state law, a person with a blood-alcohol level of 0.08 percent is considered intoxicated.
The driver was arrested, ticketed for operating while intoxicated and released on a personal bond.
A deer was injured and unable to use its hind legs after a car-deer accident at 5:40 a.m. March 20 near Grosse Ile Parkway and Parke Lane.
The animal was euthanized by authorities.
If an animal could ever be charged with breaking and entering and vandalism, this would be one to cuff and put behind bars.
A small animal entered a house in the 8000 block of Sarah Lane through a fireplace.
While in the house, it gnawed on or otherwise damaged a bay window, a kitchen window and a lamp. It punctured a leather couch and left droppings and urine on the carpet.
It is unclear how it got back out of the house.
The damage was reported to police at about 1 a.m. March 19.
A New Boston man was arrested for drunken driving in a 1994 Dodge Caravan at about 4 a.m. March 18.
An officer first saw him speeding and weaving along Grosse Ile Parkway between Chicory and Meridian, and he then drove past the bridge into Trenton.
After he exited the bridge, the officer activated lights on the police vehicle, but the man did not stop until he pulled into the Marathon gas station at Van Horn and West Jefferson.
The man did not have a license. After the officer questioned him about the validity of his license, the driver told the officer to just take him to jail because his license was restricted.
The driver also said that he had "a lot" to drink. Seven cold beer cans were found on the floor of his vehicle. Three were open.
Later during the traffic stop, the officer told the man to put out a cigarette that he had been smoking.
The man replied: "Why don't you make me?"
The officer again told him to put it out, but the man said, "Why don't you put it out?"
The officer then ordered him out of the vehicle. The driver then put out the cigarette but continued to be combative.
He was arrested and ticketed for driving while intoxicated, for having open intoxicants in a motor vehicle and for driving with a restricted license.
His blood-alcohol level was 0.184 percent. Under Michigan law, a person with a level of 0.08 or higher can be prosecuted for drunken driving.
Traffic crashes
A 1998 Ford pickup driven by a Grosse Ile man and a 2008 Chevrolet pickup driven by an Ecorse man crashed on East River near Island at 1:50 p.m. last Friday.
The Ecorse man had been turning left from East River into a parking lot when the island man tried to pass him on the left, hitting the Chevrolet.
The Grosse Ile man said the Ecorse man did not have his turn signal on.
There were no injuries.
A Grosse Ile man driving a 2006 Ford Freestyle west on Macomb near Meridian hit a 2004 Chrysler Sebring driven by a Grosse Ile woman when she attempted to enter the roadway from a private drive.
After hitting her vehicle, the Sebring ricocheted and hit a nearby street sign.
