The Camp Invention program will be held from July 30 through Aug. 3 at the Grosse Ile Presbyterian Church.
It is designed to inspire creativity and inventive-thinking through hands-on activities.
Children will participate in five age-appropriate modules each day.
They include disassembling old machinery and using parts to make their own inventions in the "I Can Invent" module. Another is crash-landing on an imaginary planet and figuring out how to get back to Earth in the "Problem Solving on Planet ZAK."
Other modules are creating and building a roller coast in the "Imagination Point: Ride Physics" module; learning about physics and motion while becoming automobile safety designers in the "Spills and Chills" module; and creating mind-boggling new games in the "Amazing Games" module.
The program integrates science, mathematics, history and the arts in an environment that is conducive to learning disguised as fun.
Serving as director, Marcia Daily and local teachers will lead the programs each day. High school and college students will serve as counselors.
The program features a low staff-to-child ratio, with one staff member for every eight children.
The registration fee includes snacks and a T-shirt.
Register before Thursday to receive $20 off the base registration price; alumni are eligible for even greater savings.
