Visiting Monroe Jefferson led the Devils 34-32 early in the fourth quarter before a late run helped Grosse Ile claim a 55-49 victory.
The win, the Devils' 10th straight, kept them unbeaten in league play and two games ahead of second-place Monroe St. Mary Catholic Central and Riverview.
"We needed a game like that," said Grosse Ile Coach Vic Bechard, whose team has gotten accustomed to easy fourth quarters.
"Give Jefferson credit. They played very well and made some shots, but it was good to see us bounce back from that."
The fourth-quarter deficit was Grosse Ile's first since a Dec. 12 loss to Dearborn Divine Child.
Nate Treadwell came off the bench to make two critical three-pointers in the final period and Pat Crowley made five of his six free-throw attempts late in the game to keep the Devils ahead.
Jefferson came out in a triangle-and-two defense that stymied Grosse Ile on the wings, which made Treadwell's contributions all the more special.
"He gave us a big lift," Bechard said of the junior guard.
Lonnie Pugh led the Devils (12-1, 8-0) with 19 points and 18 rebounds. Kevin Doyle scored 13 of his 16 in the first half to keep Grosse Ile in the game.
Crowley finished with nine points and Treadwell added seven.
Forward Jeremy Heyler had just four points, almost eight below his average, but all four came in the fourth quarter.
Grosse Ile softened up visiting Monroe St. Mary Catholic Central with its inside game Friday before burying it from the perimeter in a 65-40 win.
The Devils started the game looking for the frontcourt tandem of Pugh and Heyler, who combined for 29 of their 32 first-points.
An early 10-0 run helped the hosts take a 32-21 lead into intermission.
The Falcons loaded up the middle in the second half, which allowed Crowley to go to work. The senior guard had four three-pointers in the third quarter and finished with 19 points.
"Coach said they were going to play off of us in the second half," Crowley said. "My teammates did a good job getting the ball to me quick."
Grosse Ile led by as many as 21 points in the third before both teams cleared their benches.
Pugh had 19 of his 24 in the first half and finished with 11 rebounds. Heyler added 12 points, eight boards and four blocks.
The Devils welcome Carleton Airport tonight and play host to Milan on Tuesday.
