Soup Day at the Holiday Inn-Southgate was a success again this year. Almost 1,000 people attended the event Wednesday, where they sampled soups from 30 restaurants throughout the area. Here, Brian Sharkey of Sharkey's Tavern on Grosse Ile serves up one of three soups that he made, which included cream of roasted garlic. The event, which cost $7 per person, raised $7,100 for the Salvation Army's local food program.
