Although he has since retired and moved to Florida, this Michigan native is sharing successful teaching strategies to music educators in his self-published book, "Bravo!"
"Bravo!" is designed to give music educators innovative and proven learning strategies that enhance student learning in instrumental music.
"I felt it was important to give back to my profession by gathering strategies and other pedagogical practices that will add to the toolbox of the instrumental music teacher," Palazzola said.
His book provides teachers with information about how to make lessons more interesting, motivating and engaging for students.
Furthermore, he tells how to effectively use these tools to address the needs of students, fostering on-task learning experiences.
"My major premise of my book is that the music educator can and does provide many teaching methods and learning strategies that certainly enhance all facets of the educational process," Palazzola said.
Stemming from his passion for teaching music, he wrote the book because he believes music education should be a part of every child's education.
"As instrumental music teachers, we have a wonderful opportunity to make a tremendous difference in the education of students," Palazzola said. "Instrumental music teachers are part of the great discipline that produces very successful people who excel in the classroom and life."
It took Palazzola six months to finish the book. He diligently worked on it daily for one to two hours.
He is well versed in the field of music, having both bachelor's and master's degrees in music education.
He also taught teacher training for seven years at Michigan State University and Marygrove College in Detroit.
His love for teaching music did not end at retirement. He still continues to work with students in clinic settings and consults with instrumental music teaching staffs.
"Bravo!" is available through iUniverse for $11.95. The book can be purchased at www.iuniverse.com and other online book sellers.
